What's up BlackNBloggers?
First and foremost I want to say that I know that we're in a recession, and that before the recession money didn't grow on trees, but that it is our duty to support our people (humans).
This year we've been left with a lot of torches that it will be our jobs to carry in the coming days.
I know that I'm not the only one who feels helpless in this task at times. Quite honestly, I don't know how we're going to do it, but I have faith that we will find a way.
Because we have to. Because it is what we are here to do.
Part of that responsibility is standing up for those who need our help.
The annual Lupus Walk will be held at Crescent Bay Park in Santa Monica, Saturday Nov. 14th. If you don't understand the scope or severity of Lupus and the millions of people that it affects every year, then I suggest you do some research. This is one of our chances to carry the torches of the fallen and help people. By walking, by donating, by supporting the Lupus Foundation of America, we can help raise awareness and important funding towards the research for a cure (and better treatment) for those afflicted.
I hope that if only because it's the right thing to do, each of you who are able will show up and walk with us on Saturday. If you can't make it, you can donate to the Jay Walkers (Lupus Walkers for Dilla) at the J Dilla Project Jay Walkers Page.
Also, in support of the walk, on Friday there will be two events focused on motivating our scene and our culture to walk and raise money for the event.
Flyers are below. In brief, from 6-9 PM, Houseshoes, J Rocc, and Rhettmatic will be spinning and hosting a mixer for the Jay Walkers and family/friends at The Seven Lounge. Following that is Sound Lessons @ El Cid where another Pre-Lupus Walk / MF Doom release party will be held.
Donations will be accepted (suggested) at both locations. See you there, and on Saturday in Santa Monica for the walk.
